Meet our team: Ang Robinson

Ang Robinson is a regional learner advisor at Te Mahi Ako. When a job came up in work-based learning in active recreation, it was a combination of all of Ang’s professional interests. Having worked in the employment sector in both Australia and New Zealand, Ang was also a long-time Les Mills group fitness instructor, who understood the gym industry inside and out.

What she loves most about the role she’s in now with Te Mahi Ako, is getting to work with people who share her passion for physical recreation, health and wellbeing.

“And I love working together with clients towards those successful outcomes, for the learner, the workplace, the participants. I like meshing all of that together.”

It also helps to have a broader mission that feels meaningful, as both a professional and a mum.

“Pool lifeguards, swim teachers, sport coaches… These are our people! The longer I’m a parent the more I realise how important they are. They build up communities and support individuals’ hauora. At Te Mahi Ako we recognise and accredit these vocational roles so they can do what they do.”

Ang still teaches group fitness in her spare time. “It’s very holistic for me – I keep fit, I get to help others, we are all looking after our wellbeing, including our mental health. And I just love to move to music!”
