All expenses paid Sports Coaching L3 scholarship returns!

Published 23 January 2025
Te Mahi Ako is thrilled to announce the return of the Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Sports Coaching all expenses paid scholarships!

These scholarships are aimed at empowering young coaches to make a difference in their community. This initiative not only enhances the skills of community coaches nationwide but also aids younger coaches in attaining NCEA Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

In 2024, Te Mahi Ako granted 74 scholarships to beginner-level coaches from 42 different codes across Aotearoa. Here is what some of the coaches had to say when they were asked if they would recommend this programme to others:

“I would definitely recommend this programme to anyone who is either currently coaching or would like to coach. It's a great introduction to athlete-centred coaching and goes into depth to explain all the different aspects of coaching.”

“I definitely would! It is a really good programme to get the basics of coaching down, as someone who has done multiple coaching courses for my code, it was a super good refresher and helped me reach all areas I needed to touch on while also gaining knowledge about other sports codes.”

About the programme:
The Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Sports Coaching is a 40-credit qualification, designed to be completed in 10 months. It is for all beginner-level coaches from any sporting code. The programme covers:

Who can apply for the programme?
Beginner level coaches 16 years and over, currently coaching three or more athletes within their sporting code.
