New Zealand Certificate in Snowsport (Patrol Leader) (Level 5)
This programme is for people who will be leading a team of snowsport patrollers.
Completing the Patrol (Level 5) certificate will give you the skills and ability to operate as independent team leader under the general guidance of an area supervisor.

To enrol in this programme, you need to be working in an eligible organisation, in a paid job, self-employed, or as a volunteer with regular and consistent shifts.
This 60-credit qualification is designed to be completed in 8 to 10 months.
You'll be trained, observed and assessed in the workplace.
Key learning areas include:
- Leading daily patrol routines
- Managing a range of stakeholder relationships across a snowsport area
- Leading pre-hospital emergency care in medical and trauma based situations
- Monitoring snow stability, weather information and hazard management and reporting within the ski area
- Planning and managing terrain management activities and snow safety control work
- Leading an avalanche search and rescue initial response
- Leading a ski patrol emergency response system.
This certificate builds on the knowledge acquired in the Patrol (Level 4) certificate.
