A new round of Senior Pool Lifeguard Level 4 Scholarships will open soon, offering experienced lifeguards the opportunity to formalise their knowledge, strengthen their leadership capability, and progress their career within the aquatics sector.

Delivered through a partnership between Recreation Aotearoa and Te Mahi Ako, the scholarships form part of a shared commitment to supporting workforce development, retention, and upskilling across Aotearoa’s aquatics industry.

The Senior Pool Lifeguard Level 4 qualification recognises the experience and responsibility carried by senior lifeguards. It provides a formal pathway for those already leading shifts, mentoring team members, and contributing to operational excellence within their facilities.

By investing in senior lifeguards, organisations not only acknowledge the capability within their teams, but also strengthen leadership depth, improve staff retention, and build clear career progression pathways.

How to apply

Applications are now open via an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. Click here for the form.

Applications close 20 March.

Scholarships are for delivery in April 2026.

We encourage facility managers and aquatics leaders to identify suitable senior staff who are ready to take the next step in their professional development.
