New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (L4)

This programme is for people who want to adapt and deliver appropriate instruction to exercise clients. Completing the Exercise Level 4 certificate will set you up for a career as an employed or self-employed personal trainer, exercise consultant, community exercise instructor, or team training instructor.

Before you start

To enrol in this programme, you need to be working in a paid job with an exercise facility or organisation, self-employed, or a volunteer with regular and consistent shifts.

What's involved?

This 60-credit qualification is designed to be completed in 9 to 12 months.

You’ll need to have access to a suitable commercial facility (indoor or outdoor) where exercise is currently being delivered, and have access to qualified staff who can supervise and mentor you. Your mentor needs to have a qualification that’s recognised by REPs NZ.

You’ll also need to have access to a computer or device to view the online learning modules, and download and upload your assessments and files.

The assessment is made up of five sections. Start with exercise fundamentals. The other sections can be done in any order depending on your knowledge of the subject.

 

You’ll be trained and observed in the workplace. Some of your learning will be online, and your assessments will be completed online.
