Update on school resources – changes from 2026
Kia ora,
Thanks for being part of the wider whānau that’s used Te Mahi Ako’s school resources in the past, we’ve really valued being able to support your ākonga.
I’m getting in touch to let you know that from 2026, a number of our current resources will no longer be available for purchase. This includes:
-
Activity Leader
-
Rec Researcher
-
The Human Body and Exercise
-
Tramping and Camping
-
Waka Ama
-
Skiing and Snowboarding
-
Sport Officiating.
These decisions haven’t been made lightly. With shifts to national unit standards, alongside funding pressures and the need to prioritise where we can have the most impact, we’re having to reduce our current school offerings. These are not resources we’ve been able to secure funding to update or maintain and that’s the reality we’re working within right now.
Final purchase date
These resources will remain available to purchase until Friday 6 December 2025, to give time for printing and couriering before we (and our printers) close for the year.
Key assessment dates
If your students are working towards these standards, here are the final assessment dates to be aware of:
Final assessment date: 31 December 2025
-
30810 v1 (Waka Ama)
-
30811 v1 (Waka Ama).
Final assessment date: 31 December 2026
-
21414 v3 (Activity Leader)
-
4864 v7 (Rec Researcher)
-
30447 v2 (The Human Body and Exercise)
-
30636 v1 (The Human Body and Exercise).
We’re still very committed to helping rangatahi find their pathway in te ahumahi ā-rēhia.
Growing Coaches Plus will continue to be available in 2026 as will resources leading to qualification such as the snow college programme.
So where to from here?
Our focus will be on working alongside our sector partners to support young people through:
-
Recognising volunteer and work-based experiences with NZ qualifications and micro-credentials
-
Exploring programmes that build confidence, cultural identity, and leadership across our industries.
We’re here for the long game and passionate about supporting rangatahi to turn passion into purpose, and purpose into future pathways.
If you’ve got any pātai or want to chat about where we’re heading, feel free to reach out to the team: resources@temahiako.org.nz
Ngā manaakitanga,
Maren
