I am Rie Morris, Pou Ārahi Mātauranga Māori of Te Mahi Ako.

My family and my culture are what guide and ground me in all that I do.

As a fluent speaker of te reo Māori, guided by tikanga, with a passion for kapa haka and a love for all aspects of te ao Māori, these will direct me in this role given the focus is on mātauranga Māori.

Prior to joining Te Mahi Ako, I spent nearly twenty years in the secondary school's education sector, teaching and nurturing taitamariki of my home, Rotorua. My experiences in the education space will also assist me in this role as educating and education is a major part of it.

To that end, I am excited to be working for an organisation and with people whose purpose is to enliven Te Tiriti o Waitangi and with values such as Tika, Pono and Aroha embedded.

Here's to an exciting journey ahead!

Essentially this means that by working together in unison, we can achieve anything.
